The Peptide Hustle Gets a Regulator's Blessing

When Regulators Become Customers

The FDA is about to let the people who sell peptides decide whether peptides are safe.

This is not a failure of the system. This is the system working exactly as designed, which is the problem.

RFK Jr. , appointed to oversee FDA policy, began filling an advisory panel that will make recommendations on peptide drug regulation.

How Money Rewrites the Rules

Peptides are sold in supplement shops, through Instagram influencers. Ordered from overseas clinics where a text message gets you a shipment. Billions of dollars move through a market with almost no meaningful human testing. Most peptide products have zero completed clinical trials behind them. Some have been linked to contamination, bacterial infection. Cancer cell growth in preliminary research because humans have not been systematically studied.

The mechanism isn't new or subtle. It's what happens when one side has money and the other side has authority but no resources. The moneyed side simply waits it out, funds the right conferences, hires the right consultants. When the regulator needs a panel, the regulator gets a phone call.
