Nintendo Discounts Switch 2 Before Market Sees Trouble

Nintendo is cutting $50 off the Switch 2 bundle.

At $449. 99, you're getting the console plus a digital game for less than the hardware alone normally costs.

The historical echo is exact and uncomfortable. The original Wii U received its first official hardware bundle discount in early 2013, fourteen months after launch, when it had moved 3. 45 million units.

By 2015, Nintendo had written off $900 million in losses. The Wii U died at 13. 5 million lifetime sales, a hardware failure so complete that Nintendo stopped making games for it faster than the market stopped buying them. The structural similarity matters because Nintendo discounts hardware when it believes momentum has shifted internally but before the market sees it.
